Almost Heaven on the Road!

No matter how often I tell myself that I am going to keep up with our blog I never seem to follow through. I am sorry that I am not very good at that. We have been really busy here at AHS. We have traveled to three weekend retreats over the last month and set up shop (that has been great) I had the opportunity to meet several new people and share lots of new ideas. March we traveled to Ripley and hung out with the the 3 Cheeky Chix for Fly the Coop retreat, then we headed over to Flatwoods for our very own (Heavenly Retreats) Spring Fling event and then this past weekend we went to Canaan Valley for "Scrapping in the Hills" Spring Fiesta. If you have never attended a weekend crop you really should give it a try. I can give great reviews to any of these events they all had very unique characteristics that I loved. I am hoping to get to take the store on the road to others in the future and hope to see some of you there.

The dates we currently have on the schedule are October 1 to 3 for our "Crop for a Cure" in Flatwoods you can contact me here at the store for information on this retreat. This will be a great event and a great opportunity to raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness. We will hopefully be in Canaan from November 5 to 7 provided that "Old Man Winter" doesn't make any early appearances. We do have 4 wheel drive so if you are there we will come. The Cheeky Chix are hosting their even the same weekend in October that we have our "Crop for a Cure" so I will not be able to attend that one but hope to be invited back in the Spring.

I made a New Year's Resolution that I was going to do a better job on keeping up with the blog and here it is January 7 and I still have not posted anything. So much for keeping up with my resolutions.

To update you on a couple of things here at the store. We have lots going on this month even if the weather has not been our friend we are still having classes with Alice, Laura, and Janet. We are working on a couple of other things class related and will keep you posted with emails.

We are still planning our weekend crop in April with Heavenly Scrapbook retreats and I am going to take the store on the road with another weekend crop in March. I will provide more information on that a little later. Carrie should be getting the info out for the April Crop on Monday, January 11 and registration will get started make sure to reserve your spot. We had a great time in September and I am sure this one will be no different.

I have decided not to go to CHA this January in LA because of the current economy I am a little afraid to spend the money on the trip I would rather spend the money on products for you guys to have on hand. I have been in touch with most of the companies and they are sending me information on the new products so don't despair we will still have everything we can get our hands on here in the store. If there is something you have seen new coming out that you are interested in please send me an email and I will be glad to look into it.

I hope everyone is staying warm and that as soon as Ole Man Winter releases his grip on you that you will come to the store for a visit or attend one of our classes. If I can help you in anyway or you have any questions I am only an email or phone call away and I love hearing from everyone.

Wednesday, December 2, 2009 1pm to 3pm—Card and Gift Idea Class with Laura. Laura will teach you how to craft some unique gifts for those people in your office, teachers etc by using your scrapbook supplies. Samples coming soon.

Saturday, December 5, 2009 9am to 12noon—This is going to be a trial type class we are going to see how it works. Several of Alice’s Paper Piecing Classes have filled up and other people want to take the classes and we just don’t have enough days in the month to repeat them all so here is the deal. During this time period you will have the opportunity to come in and make up the Penguin Layout, the Santa and Rudolph, The Snowman or the Christmas Tree(providing I can still get the paper for this one). You will tell us which one/ones you want to do they will be $15.00 a piece just as a regular class but instead of her teaching the whole class she will be available to help you and get you started. She will provide you directions and assistance as time allows. You are welcome to do as many as you want. We will have another class starting at 1pm so we will have to be cleaned up by then but other than that you can work on them with Alice and Judy on hand to help you. Depending on the response we get to this some people may have slightly different paper backgrounds but we will do our best to keep it as close as possible. You will need to bring your basic class supplies to this and you will need to make a reservation and tell us which layouts you are interested in so we can prepare. I hope this works out as it would be a good answer to those of you that ask for kits. If you just want a kit you can come in at that time and we can try to put it together for you but you will need to pick it up on that day as some of the tracing will be up to you.

Great Day!!

Today we had two wonderful classes here at AHS. Linda helped us complete a beautiful heritage page this afternoon and then Janet used stamping and Copic Markers to help us do a cute Cowgirl Layout. Everyone had a wonderful time in both classes. Thanks Janet and Linda for teaching here with us.

I unpacked the boxes of Basic Grey and priced everything now it is looking for a home on the shelf. I also put away tons of Me and My Big Ideas Soft Spoken Stickers. They range from family to various sports, just about anything you can think of they have a sticker for it seems. I hope some of you guys will find your way here to check out some of the new stuff before it is gone.

I am working on the October Schedule and we have lots of stuff to offer. Don't forget about Scrap Pink coming up. I had hoped to get the bra contest up and going but time has not been on my side as of late and I am sorry for that. There has been so many boxes and so much new stuff going on there is not enough hours in the day. That is why I still sit here at my desk at 10pm thinking I need to go home for dinner.

On Wednesday we again have two great classes one at noon and another at 6pm give us a call if you are interested in coming and hanging out or if you would like more info. Laura is teaching a 2 page layout that has wonderful techniques and Joanne is teaching Stamping 101.

Some of these classes are almost full and some are on the verge of being cancelled if we do not get more people so if there is something you are interested in call or email as soon as possible. 304-925-7272. Flower Soft Christmas Card Class Tonight September 16, 2009--6pm to 8pm Beautiful Santa Cards using the new polar white flower soft. This class was full but now I have 2 spots if anyone would like those please call asap. Cost $15.00

September 17, 2009 6pm to 8pm--Janet will be doing a coloring class teaching the use of Copic Markers and Water color pencils. This class is $15.00 but you will receive a discount on any coloring purchase made before or after the class (pens or pencils). If I do not get a couple more people for this class we will have to cancel so please call ASAP.

September 18, 2009 6:30 to 8:30 pm--Carrie will be teaching a card class where you will be making Criss Cross Cards. Some Examples are available on facebook or I can try to email you on request. Cost $15.00

September 19, 2009, 11am Travel Album Class with Laura--This is a perfect opportunity to work with glimmer mist, Copic Markers airbrushing system, the cuttlebug and many other techniques to complete a beautiful travel album. This album is available to see at the store. Pictures are also posted on Facebook and the blog. Cost of this class is $30.00 and it is a great value. Please call to sign up.

September 20, 2009 12noon to 6pm Crop with Judy here at the store. Cost $10 but you will receive a 10% discount on any purchases made. Seating very limited as we want you to have lots of space to crop so call soon for reservation only a few spots left.

September 22, 2009, 12 noon to 2pm--Linda will be repeating the Heritage Layout that everyone loved and couldn't get into the class. I hope some of you can make it. Picture available on the blog or I can email. Papers will be a little different but I think they are even prettier. Cost $15.00

September 22, 2009 6pm to 8pm--Two page layout with Janet cost $15.00--This is a cowgirl themed layout that could be used for many things. It is cute as can be. September 23, 2009 12noon to 2pm--Technique Driven Layout with Laura--more information to come with hopeful pictures. Cost $15.00

September 23, 2009 6pm to 8pm--Stamping 101 with Joanne--She will be teaching you basic stamping techniques and tricks, coloring of stamps, caring for your stamps, etc. This is a technique driven class that is perfect for those of you that want to learn to stamp or have purchased lots of supplies and wonder what to do with them. Cost of the class is $15.00 but I will be offering a 10% discount on any stamps or stamping supplies purchased that night.

Travel Album Class

On September 19 at 11am Laura is going to be doing a travel album that is beautiful. This started out as a class that she was supposed to take at CHA but due to a case of food poisoning she did not make it so instead we picked her kit up and she put her own spin on it. I saw the ones done at CHA and I must admit she did a much better job.

This class will give you the chance to use glimmer mist, copic marker airbrushing and the cuttlebug along with many other techniques. There is a sample of the album here at the store for you to take a look at. You really need to see this to appreciate it. I am going to post a couple of pictures here to tease you. I have a couple of spots left in this class some give us a call.

Busy, Busy, Busy

We have tons of stuff going on here at AHS that has left me without a lot of time to type. I had vowed I was going to do a better job of blogging but when I get lost in boxes it is hard to make myself sit at the computer.

We have a class almost every night this month it seems filled with lots of new stuff. Flower Soft Card Classes, Alice has started painting festive slates and cards with her painting classes, we have lots of unique page classes and albums. Laura is doing a travel album from glimmer mist that she added Copic Markers to that is beautiful and would make a wonderful gift or keepsake I am going to try to post pictures of it to the blog.

We have a guest teacher this month, Linda Coberly. She does a lot of heritage layouts and paper piecing. She has sold some of her stuff on Ebay in the past. We really like her work and hope she will try to do a Heritage layout at least every month or so for us as that seems to be a popular thing right now. We have some new paper from ANW that is wonderful for Heritage Layouts so we hope you will come check it out. We are always looking for ideas on this subject for classes so if you have any suggestions please let us know.

I have the new Basic Grey lines sitting in boxes in my office waiting on paper trays but hope to have it out by the weekend. Also we picked up the Core'dinations line of cardstock you should really stop and check it out too. This is a WV based company and as last I heard we are the only store in WV that is currently carrying the line so lets support our state.

I have not been near as good at keeping this blog up as I had hoped I would, however, I do have a few pretty good excuses. We have been working on getting tons of new product out on the shelves and making room for it. We have also been trying to get organized to bring you some awesome classes for this month and I am working on the October schedule so if there is something you would like to see on there please feel free to email me or give me a call and I will see what I can do. Heavenly Scrapbooking Retreats is teaming up with Almost Heaven Scrapbooking to bring you your 2009 Scrap Pink event! We are also pleased to announce that due to many requests, our Annual Scrap Pink event will be an all inclusive weekend retreat this year!!! Be sure to get your registration in as soon as possible, because spaces are limited. (Anyone who registers by September 4, 2009 will receive 10 extra entries into our door prize drawings!!)
Please join us for a weekend get away full of fun, food and prizes all while documenting your memories and raising money for a great cause! A portion of each participants registration will be submitted to Susan G. Komen for the cure of breast cancer.
We will be holding our Scrap Pink retreat at the Days Hotel / Flatwoods Conference Center, Flatwoods WV. The Days Hotel Flatwoods is a “5 Sunburst” Chairman’s award for excellence hotel and was recently recognized and awarded by Wyndham Worldwide – Days Inn Corporate as the cleanest property in the world! During any down time you can take a break from scrapping to rest in your spacious and comfortable room or take advantage of access to an indoor pool, hot tub, exercise facility and free wireless internet. Or spend some time at the nearby Flatwoods Factory outlet centers.
As always, we will offer plenty of cropping space with only 2 people per table. Cropping space will be assigned and we will place groups of people close to each other as requested on their registration forms. Cropping will be available around the clock (for you late nighters!) with the doors being locked when the last person leaves so you don’t have to worry about your valuable scrapping supplies inside while you sleep and rest up for the next day! Each person will receive a goody bag upon arrival and we will be doing LOTS of door prize drawings through out the weekend. In order to keep your energy up as you crop, we’ll be providing 2 continental breakfasts, 3 yummy snack breaks and a scrumptious dinner on Saturday evening. Lunch on Saturday will be on your own with several local restaurants to choose from such as: Visions Restaurant, Mad Annies Taver (on property), Arby’s, Café Cimino, China Buffet, KFC, McDonalds, Shoney’s, Subway, Taco Bell, Waffle Hut and Wendy’s.
Our packages are priced to offer the option of 2, 3 or 4 people per room and you designate on your registration whom you will be sharing a room with. If you prefer to not share a room with someone please contact us for package pricing on an individual room.

As most of you know on July 7 Almost Heaven celebrated their second birthday and on August 4 we celebrated one year of being at our current location. We decided to have a celebration of sorts all month long and that has come to an end. We tried to give prize away each week during the month missing the one that I was at CHA so I decided to double up this time. Back from CHA

I know I promised I would try to blog while I was in Florida at CHA but I just didn't realize how busy I would be, you with think after three shows I would know that it is several days of going full throttle. I am going to try to sum up the trip for you guys by saying it was wonderful!!!!

There was 7 of us that ended up going. Me, Emily, Janet, Laura, Mary Beth, Vicki and Kathy. We took some great classes from Tim Holtz, Hero Arts, Technique Tuesday, Spellbinders, Quick Quotes, SRM Stickers and Cosmo Cricket just to name a few. Hopefully we can show you guys some of the new things we learned in the weeks to come.

As far as new products go I must admit I spent way too much money but that is the fun of it, isn't it??? If everything I ordered would come in at the same time it would probably close to double the current inventory at the store. I am going to try to name of few things I picked up. The new lines from BoBunny, Graphic 45, Basic Grey, Karen Foster, Paper House and Bazzill (to mention a few). I also got embellishments from Petaloo, Me and My Big Ideas, Clear Scraps and some others that I can't think of right now. We ordered stamps from a new company called Shirley's 2 Girls that I think you guys will really like, especially you Copic fans. We also ordered some stamps from "My Favorite Things" also a really neat stamp company. We will be getting new tools and albums from We R Memory Keepers and new storage from Cropper Hopper (Advantus). We ordered the entire alphabet in a acrylic and chipboard letters so that you will be able to create your own word albums (yes there will be classes on this).

One of my favorite and most exciting things I did was to order a Kodak Photo Machine for the store so that you can print your pictures at the store and then pick out your stuff to do your pages. We hope you guys will take advantage of this service. I was really pleased with the quality of the pictures and Kodak as we all know has a wonderful reputation in the photo industry. We feel like we can offer you a much better atmosphere to edit and print your pictures than the long lines at Sam's and Walmart along with a comfortable bar stool to sit on while you print. This should be in the store in the next couple of weeks and I promise to provide more information soon.

A list of August Classes went out today on the Yahoo List please call us to register. I am already getting shipping notices so I think product should be arriving soon. Happy Birthday to Almost Heaven Scrapbooking

As many of you know we celebrated our Second Birthday on July 7, 2009. We have lots of stuff going on here at AHS and hope that you all will find time to stop by and see us. We have cut down on classes for the month of July but the ones we are offering are unique and very much worth your time. We plan on getting back in full swing as the kids go back to school.

Many of you know that we are heading to CHA the end of the month and hope to learn lots of new techniques to share with you all and bring back tons of new products. If there are particular things you are looking for this is the time for me to look for them so send me an email or give me a call and I will see what I can do.

We are really putting a lot of focus on learning to use the Copic Markers that we have introduced to the store. We had 7 people become certified in the use of them back in April and I have to admit we are all hooked and think you would be too if you just took some time to check them out.

We are working on a new website that we will be telling you more about in the next few days and hope it will give you a chance to learn more about what is going on here at the store and will be more user friendly.

Please let us know some of your thoughts about classes and products you would like to see us have here at the store. I love hearing from you guys.

Hi all,

Here are some of the paint colors that you will need to bring to class on Saturday.
Wicker white, Taffy, Burnt sienna, Apple spice, Plum pudding, Dx. purple, Licorice, Green Meadow, Bayberry, Basil Green, Wrought Iron, Terra Cotta, Lt Red oxide, violet pansy. If you have any pinks, bring them. I will bring extra colors that we do not have so not to worry! Some colors only require a small amount of paint which we Mountaineer's call a "tad". lol Also, do not forget your Float medium since we will be painting on a card and of course, your paper brushes!

One Stroke Rose Wreath painting class

Hi all,

Here is the list of paint colors you will need for your class on Saturday May 16th, 2009.
Magenta, Thicket, Wicker White, Burnt Sienna, Burnt Umber, Brillant Ultramarine and Float medium. We will be using paper brushes on this project which will be on a scrapbook page.

Also, there will be a One Stroke beginners class on May 18th, 2009. We will be painting the purple Larkspur flower card that is pictured on the Almost Heaven Scrapbooking blog. The paint colors for that project is: Thicket, Fresh Foliage, Wicker White, Diaoxazine Purple, Yellow Light, Violet Pansy, and Float medium. We will also be using paper brushes on this project.

National Scrapbook Day

Well I am a little late on writing about this but I first want to say it was a wonderful day. Several of the store designers and friends came out and assisted me with make and takes and demonstrations and I want to give all of them a very big Thank YOU!!! We made cards, book marks, envelopes with the score pal, we played with the Cricut, made messes with alcohol ink all in good fun and we had a really good time. We took time to socialize with old friends and meet many new ones. Thanks to everyone that supports the store on a daily basis and thanks to all of you that made this a very special day here at Almost Heaven Scrapbooking. I am so glad that we have our own National recognized holiday. I am going to share some pictures of our friends here having lots of fun I hope no one minds if their picture ends up on the web.

Recipe Card Class

On May 12, 2009 at 6pm Alice will be doing a recipe card class that I think you guys will find very appealing. This is a Teresa Collins Kit that Alice has made her own. She has made 4 recipe cards in a 6 x 6 style that will fit wonderfully in the 6 x 6 album that many people are now using for recipes. This kit will give you enough stuff to do an additional 8 to 10 card the only thing you may need to add will be some cardstock. I hope you will come out and join us. Space is limited because we only have so many of these wonderful kits. Samples available.

Girl Scout Class

I have been meaning to write about this for a while now and just have not had a chance. On April 18 Mary Beth taught a group of girl scouts a really neat class. They used stamping techniques, stickers and lots of other fun stuff to make a a CD mini album, a gift bag and a door hanger. They all seemed to have a good time and I hope they will come back and see us sometime soon. We would love to get as many kids as possible interested in our wonderful hobby. We are glad to work with any group that would be interested in having such a class.

On May 9, 2009 at 11am Laura Clonch will be lending us her talents to help you guys make a beautiful Mother's Day Album. We give Laura a project and we know she runs with it. We gave her a fairly simple Bo Bunny MOM album to complete and she turned it into something more beautiful than I would have imagined. We hope several people will come out and play with us and finish the perfect Mother's Day Gift made by hand. We will supply everything you need to complete the album. I must admit true to Laura's nature she did add a little more bling than I have available here in the class kit so if you like bling you may want to check your personal stock. I am including some pictures and hope some of you will give us a call.

Copic Marker Class

Ok I have to admit I had the most wonderful day yesterday doing something I never thought would get me so excited. On Saturday evening Laura, Janet, Vicki, Kathy, Alice, Judy and myself left to go to Kingsport, TN for a Copic Marker Certification Class. We all loved it and and learned so much. We learned a lot about the different types of markers they offered along with several techniques for blending and airbrushing. We all achieved our certification and I returned to the store to order 144 colors (open stock so people can buy the colors they want), air compressors (one to have at the store and to have available to buy), we are even going to have a reinking station so we can re ink your markers for a small fee. We will be carrying the sketch markers and will be teaching classes on how to to use them. We also will be doing some air brushing. We are going to have several other associated products. We can't wait and would love to have your feedback.

Acrylic Album

Well the results are in and Laura has finished her latest challenge of creating an acrylic album. We have had many request for this class so we put Laura to the test and ask her to see what she could do. I am going to post the pictures for her class that is going to be on Saturday, April 14. Well it looks like Spring has finally come and we have lots of things to inspire you to do those Spring Projects here at the store. Alice has been painting away doing Easter and Spring projects with her One Stroke Painting, she has also been paper piecing her way into spring with all kinds of cute layouts that we hope you will take a look out. Laura has designed several new layouts to help you scrap all those new pictures you have taken this year. And we are going to have a special guest designer on April 14 to do an April Showers bring May Flowers layout, we hope several of you will come and welcome Pat to teaching at the store. Janet and Carrie have been busy stamping showing off their new stamps from both Stamping Up and Close to My Heart. We think we have something to meet everyone's needs in the line of classes. If we don't just make a suggestion and we will try to make it happen.

I am still getting new stuff all the time. We have some new stamps from My Sentiments Exactly, new paper from K&Company, Little Yellow Bicycle, and the new BoBunny is just about gone but we also have a new line from WeRMemories called Tiffany that is just adorable. April should bring us more Basic Grey in the form of the Wisteria line and the Lime Ricky we can't wait to see it all. We are also getting a new line from Little Yellow Bicycle. I think that purple is the color for the season I am seeing a lot of it in the new lines.

Please let us know if there is something you want to see in the line of stock or classes. We want to do our best to make everyone happy and keep them scrapping for a very long time.

Our gals have been moving right along on planning March Classes and we are working on the April Schedule and hope to have it out by the middle of this week. I just got back from a 4 day trip to Atlanta with my teenage daughter and 40+ members of her Schools orchestra so I must admit I am a little behind. I hope to remember to bring my camera to work tomorrow so I can take pictures of the other great layouts and projects we have coming up. I hope you guys are enjoying the sunshine but still finding some time to scrapbook. We have tons of new stuff here at the store. I hope on one of those trips out in the sun you will find time to stop by and check out all the goodies.

Well we are still unpacking boxes and scheduling classes. We had a wonderful Glimmer Mist Album Class today thanks to Laura. She out did herself again and a good time seemed to be had by all, I am not sure my tables will ever be the same color again (just kidding). Thanks to everyone for supporting our classes. We have a busy week of fun filled classes this next week coming up so give us a call and come out and join us for some fun. New Classes and New Merchandise

Well I have finally found a spot for all the new Bo Bunny and a lot of other new items. Many people said it couldn't be done but thanks to the help of Laura and Christina we found a place to put out all the new paper. They came in and helped me on Friday, Judy tried to find room on Saturday but she was busy trying to help with two jammed packed classes on Saturday to do too much. Laura and Alice both did wonderful classes on Friday, even if Laura was a little over booked, if one more person would have come they would have had to bring their own chair.

Both Laura and Alice have collected all of their supplies for a whole month's worth of layouts so keep an eye on the post to see what they have in store for you. A lot of classes are filling up so give us a call if you think you want in on any of them. If you have any specific questions give me a call or send me and email and I will try to answer anything you might have. I don't have the finished layout for all classes but I do have an idea of what they have up their sleeves and I can promise you some awesome layout classes.

Janet and Carrie are also busy at work on their cards and projects and I think these are going to be wonderful too. We have Carrie scheduled for two classes this month and that is a treat so come and join her. Janet has been ordering new stamps to use for Spring and Easter cards and we actually have her for a day class thanks to spring break so please take advantage of this opportunity.

Joanne will be doing two writing classes this month and introduction to Calligraphy and a Decoraative Writing Class that should be a lot of fun. If you took her first decorative writing class this is new techniques and will be fun for you too.

Don't forget Alice is doing a lot of painting this month so if you have been wanting to get out and do some One Stroke come on over.

The boxes are still coming so come check out our new stuff and maybe now that it has been arranged a little different you will see some old stuff you haven't seen before.

Hi Everyone!
I wanted to take a minute to introduce myself and welcome everyone to our little home here on the internet! It's so fun to be 'blogging' :)
I'm Carrie Ford, Beverly's sister in law. I'm also a designer and Instructor at Almost Heaven Scrapbooking. I teach several different project classes (I have a thing for mini albums, lol) and some card and stamping classes. If you have any special requests for classes please feel free to let us know! We're always interested in what everyone would like to see!
I have been scrapbooking since the early 90's and love it! I am also a Close To My Heart Independant Consultant. I've really enjoyed the time that I get to teach classes over at Almost Heaven Scrapbooking. I've met a lot of wonderful people and made some great friends. We always have a good time in classes.
Along with classes, I am also the 'event planner' of sorts-lol. I host Almost Heaven Scrapbooking's 12 hour crops! Those are always a great time. We are currently giving thoughts to a weekend event so feel free to give us any feedback or thoughts on that.
A little about me personally: I'm married to a wonderful guy who is very supportive of my scrapping/stamping addicitions. I'm also momma to 2 beautiful little boys Ian (6yo) and Aidan (2 yo) who give me plenty of scrapbooking/photography opportunities. In my day job I'm a Medical Rate Analyst for the State of WV, Office of the Insurance Commissioner.

We are working on some kit classes that seem to go over really well and we are also hoping to put together an acrylic album class which is something that everyone has been asking about but it probably won't be until April because we have not gotten our supplies in yet.

Laura will be doing afternoon layout classes and would love to know what kind of things you want to learn. She loves to try new things so throw some ideas at her.

Alice is going to be doing some really cool paper piecing and we are hoping to get Joanne on board for some more writing classes.

Janet and Carrie will be doing some card and project classes but would love to hear what you want to learn/do, they are our stamping teachers.

New Stuff

Well the boxes keep coming and I am not sure what I was thinking when I ordered all this paper but I am loving it. I am just hoping that our designers/teachers will keep coming up with new ideas to keep everyone inspired to use all of it. We got some new paper and stickers from the Paper House with a few unusual themes that we hope you will check out. We are very well stocked on the Ranger Inks and Paint Dabbers (Laura is thrilled). Today we got the first of our album kits in and Laura ran out the door with her sample (it is a glimmer mist nature album) we can't wait to see what she comes up with. Today I also got some of the Tim Holtz stamps in that he used on the 12 tags of Christmas that a lot of us watched on YouTube, supplies of these are very limited because I was not sure what to expect but we can get more.

There is still room in Carrie's All Day Crop on Saturday so if anyone wants to come and join us please let us know. This is a great time to hang out with friends and get some work done. But if you don't want to do that stop and see us at the store. Alice will be doing a One Stroke Painting Class using a new kind of background her class will be painting on their own shirts. If anyone is curious about this come and take a look at the creations we would love to have you.

I am working on March's Class Schedule and would love to have some feedback on what you guys would like to see. And as always if anyone has any new ideas or skills related to our wonderful hobby they would like to share or teach please give us a call and let us see what we can come up with. The one thing I love about having the store is all the new ideas and techniques that people discover and someone had to be first on everyone of them so if you happen to be that someone come and share your ideas.

One Stroke painting class on Feb 21st, 2009

Hi all,

The paint colors you will need for this Saturday's One Stroke class are: Wicker White, Berry Wine, Sunflower, School Bus Yellow, Thicket, and Violet Pansy. I have the fabric medium you will be mixing with the paints. The brushes we will be using are the paper/fabric brushes: #12 flat, #8 flat, and the #2 script liner. See you at class!!!

Well I am glad that everyone is finding our blog. We are trying to get into the real world and this has truely become one of the most popular forms of communication.

Tonight Janet did a wonderful class teaching how to do some wonderful scrapbook pages using stamps. She chose to use heritage layouts and everyone had a different take on the class. It was interesting to see the different things that people came up with. This class was so popular that we are going to repeat it on February 25 at 6pm.

Alice agreed to repeat her Heritage Class on February 28 at 2pm. We had several people on a waiting list for this class when she did it a couple of weeks ago I will try to contact those people individually but you know who you are and if you want to take the class let me know. This is a K&Company Kit Class that Alice used her special creativity on. You will be able to complete several pages with the loot from this class. I believe you will do three to five pages in the class with plenty of stuff left over. I will be posting pictures on the blog so check it out.

One of the new products to the store is Flower Soft. We have had several people ask what do we do with this. We are having a class on Friday, February 20 to show you just what you can do with this product. I am also posting some pictures of that on the blog.

Alice is doing a wonderful St Patrick's Day Layout on Feb 23, she will teach you sewing techniques and her signature paper piecing. This class is almost full but I will post a picture so you can take a look.

We still have boxes coming in daily. I am trying to figure out just where to put stuff but there always seems to be a place we just keep hoping that Judy doesn't kill me when she comes in to work and I have moved everything around.

We hope to see you all soon. Carrie has space left in her all day Crop on Saturday the 21st if you are looking for something to do.

Hi all, I am a Level II One Stroke Certified Instructor (O.S.C.I.)and teach all the painting classes at Almost Heaven Scrapbooking. Besides teaching the painting classes, I also teach layout classes, and sometimes card classes for special groups per request. I have been painting for over 30 years and really enjoy teaching the One Stroke technique as well as Tole painting. Almost Heaven is a great place to meet others, share interests, ideas, learn new techniques, and especially, make new friends. I just love being part of the "Team"! New Items Arriving Daily

Well the boxes just keep coming now the challenge is trying to figure out where the heck we are going to put everything.

So far we have gotten the new stuff from Basic Grey. This shipment had the Porcelain Collection and Marrakech Collections. I did not get the individual sheet of this paper but I did get the packs, the 6 x 6 pads, stamps, rub ons, buttons and brads.
Karen Foster Designs came out with about 14 new lines at CHA this year and all of them have now shipped and we have them on the shelves or at least priced and close to the shelves, plus we were able to re-stock on some of the good old standards from them. We did get a lot of new baby stuff from their line that is just adorable. We now have the Count Down Calendars that was so popular at Christmas and we couldn't find them. We have them now along with idea cards showing you other things you can do with them.
We have tons of new colors of Flower Soft they came out with several bright colors and if you are wondering how to use this don't forget to check out the class Alice will be teaching on February 20 at 6pm.
We received aa box from Me and My Big Ideas filled with their new line of Soft Spoken Stickers for those of you who still love stickers these are really classy. There was a lot of bling included in that box.
I received a box from Moxxie today that I haven't had a chance to go through yet but I know they had some exciting new lines for little boys and girls, ice skating, cooking, travel, cats and dogs, black belt, tennis and family tree.
We are fully stocked on Score Pals the great new card tool along with Carrying cases.
We have open stock Tombo Markers and you would not believe the colors (beautiful) along with sets and blending pens.
We have all the colors in the Tim Holtz Crackle Paint.

I know there is many things that I have forgot to add but you will have to come in to see us to make sure you don't miss anything. I will try to post as the new stuff comes in.

When I am not teaching at Almost Heaven, I am teaching math to 8th graders! I've been a teacher for 27 years in Kanawha County. I actually met Bev through one of my very smart students....Bev's daughter!

Let's Get Started

People have been after me for sometime now to start a blog and although I spend a lot of time on the computer I often doubt my abilities so I have been putting it off thinking it would be hard to do. But this doesn't seem to bad.

We wanted to start a blog to let you know what is going on at the store. To be able to introduce you to the gals that are doing a wonderful job teaching at the store and to hopefully get some more people interested in scrapbooking.

Most people who will be reading this knows that we are located at 601 5oth Street in Kanawha City (Charleston), WV. Our Phone number is 304-925-7272. My name is Beverly Ford and I am the owner of the store. I was an RN for 17 years and decided that I wanted to be something different when I grew up so I turned 40 and opened a scrapbook store. I must admit it has been the best thing I have ever done. If I never make a dime I have made some of the best friends I could ever hope to meet and I am happier in my life than I have ever been. I married to a wonderful supporting husband who encouraged me to do this and I have a 15 year old daughter that is very talented and when I can settle her down from her busy life is a wonderful asset to the store. I think she will be a great teacher there someday.

As for now we have several people teaching classes with a multitude of talents. Hopefully I can figure this out and get a little introduction from each of them to post on here in the next day or so.
